We understand that you may be facing a challenging situation, and we’re here to assist you.
If you need assistance with your pet:
If you find yourself in a difficult situation with your pet IndyHumane has resources to help keep pets with their families, examples of how we can help include providing pet supplies, behavioral support, and in some situations, assistance with veterinary care. To contact our team about resources please use this form.
If your situation prevents you from keeping your pet, we recommend that you try to rehome your pet before considering a shelter. Rehoming your pet on your own spares them the stress of entering a shelter environment, it also allows you to see where your pet is going. Below are some resources you can use to rehome your pet.
Any information you share about your pet should include clear photos that capture the pet's personality. Descriptions should be detailed but concise, including your pet's breed, age, size, and temperament. Highlight their best qualities, such as being good with kids, other pets or special training. Be honest about behavioral issues and what type of home would be best.
If you feel that surrendering your pet to IndyHumane is necessary, please use this form to provide us with more information.
If any of the situations below apply to you, please review possible alternatives before surrendering your pet.
If behavior issues are the reason for surrendering, visit our online Behavior Resources library where you can access articles that aid with common behavior issues.
Please consider using our Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic or Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic for your basic vet care.
