Campers will engage in various activities to learn about IndyHumane, how we are improving animal welfare in our community, and how they can join us in our impact.
Daily interactions with animals. Each day, campers will observe shelter practices and roughly an hour of hands-on interaction with the animals. We are mindful not to over stimulate the animals with too much activity.
A favorite activity last year was our resident dog painters. Campers will leave their mark on our organization by decorating a ceiling tile to hang in our shelter.
Learn about the various departments that make IndyHumane run and how we save lives.
What is a camp without opportunities to play group games like the IndyHumane Summer Camp tradition: Where’s My Chicken?
Make friends with other kids who love animals as much as you!
Be a part of an animal’s journey to find a home.
We are offering Teen Camp sessions this year, to offer more targeted programming.
Our teens will learn to work with our dogs on clicker training and have more observational/shadow experiences. We hope to encourage the next generation of vets and animal welfare professionals and advocates! Teen camps will be offered:
Week 1: 06/16 – 06/20 Monday thru Friday from 10am-4pm daily
Week 2: 07/07 – 07/11 Monday thru Friday from 10am-4pm daily
Week 3: 07/21 – 07/25 Monday thru Friday from 10am-4pm daily

Please note: The animals in our care are provided daily enrichment that includes peanut butter. We cannot ensure that campers will not come in contact with surfaces that have trace amounts. For this reason, we unfortunately cannot recommend children with severe peanut allergies attend camp.
Students who would like to complete school projects about IndyHumane may submit a request if assistance or an interview is needed from IndyHumane staff. Answers to many common questions can be found throughout our website.
We recommend submitting requests at least 2 weeks before your project is due. We have a limited staff who stay very busy taking care of the animals. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
Ongoing program for students who are at least 8 years old with an adult who is at least 21 years old.
Parent & Me Volunteers help with care of our animals held in our adoption kennels. To start volunteering, you must submit an application and complete the required steps of training.
