The Mission of the Volunteer Program is to support the staff in their service to the mission of IndyHumane. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our incredible team of volunteers, and we hope you’ll join that team and be part of a community who is changing the lives of homeless dogs and cats.

Please note: The animals in our care are provided daily enrichment that includes peanut butter. We cannot ensure that volunteers will not come in contact with surfaces that have trace amounts.

Ongoing program for individuals who are at least 16 years old.
We are always in need of people interested in helping IndyHumane care for the animals we take care of each day. Shelter Volunteers help with animal care, facilities upkeep, administrative assistance, and customer service.
Ongoing program for students who are at least 8 years old with an adult partner. Parent & Me Volunteers help with care of our animals held in our adoption kennels.
Summer program for individuals who are at least 16 years old. The Summer Volunteer Program is ideal for students who are home for the summer or individuals who have time to donate during the months of June, July, and August. Summer volunteers help with care of our animals held in our adoption kennels.
Service program for adult community groups. Please submit a request at least 1 month prior to desired volunteer day.
Volunteer at events with our Pet Adoption Wagon. Join our community outreach team at PAW events and more. Advocate for the animals, spread the word about the mission of IndyHumane and potentially watch a fury friend go home!
For individuals who are at least 18 years old who need to complete service hours for school, a community group, or court. A minimum of 20 hours is required for this program.
