Human Resources Manager (Part Time)

Seeking a part-time, experienced human resources director to lead the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures to support our staff of 50. Schedule shall be 20 hours per week (5, 4-hour days or 4, 5-hour days) at IndyHumane’s Michigan Road campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports leadership team and management by providing human resources direction, advice and counsel
  • Create and implement and oversee a systematic employee performance review system
  • Create consistent hiring policies and procedures, consistent job descriptions, job posting
  • Establish an orientation procedure for onboarding new hires and training them to meet the needs of the organization
  • Create and implement ideas to improve job satisfaction
  • Handle and de-escalate employee concerns or disputes
  • Motivate, encourage and support staff as needed
  • Update employee handbook as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or related field
  • 7 plus years experience in human resources department
  • PHR certification a plus
  • Excellent communication, leadership and planning skills

Veterinarian (Part Time)

We are searching for a part-time veterinarian to join our close-knit team of medical professionals in caring for the city’s most needy cats and dogs. We need a passionate doctor to help increase our community outreach by providing wellness care in our public vaccine clinic two days a week. This position also includes shelter medicine and high volume spay/neuter opportunities. You will have a highly trained staff of technicians and assistants supporting you as well as a team of other veterinarians for collaboration on a diverse caseload. IndyHumane provides a full range of care for our shelter pets, from orthopedics to dentistry, in our fully equipped surgical suite with digital radiography (including dental), Class IV laser, ultrasound, and full laboratory access.

Staff and patron safety is very important at IndyHumane and we have a comprehensive COVID-19 policy including an appointment based system in our vaccination clinic, social distancing policies and a health screening questionnaire prior to each appointment. Feline Animal Care Technician (Part Time)

Responsible for day-to-day care of cats at the shelter; will perform duties pertaining to kennel maintenance, custodial responsibilities, maintaining a disease-free environment, and feline enrichment and behavioral tasks. Interacts with the public, fellow staff, community service, and volunteers professionally and with exceptional customer service. Is expected to work safely and consistently with IndyHumane policies, procedures, beliefs and mission statement.

Michigan Road Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic Assistant (Part Time)

Provides education for vaccine clinic clients such as recommended medical care for pets, products, common diseases, and informs clients of all other services provided by IndyHumane. Responsible for consulting with all vaccine clinic client, collecting payments, completing paperwork and record keeping related to the vaccine clinic and services provided. Must interact with public, staff, community service, and volunteers professionally and with exceptional customer service skills.

Veterinary Nurse/Assistant

We are currently looking for a veterinary nurse/assistant to assist our veterinarians in shelter medicine duties in our intake, surgery, foster program and vaccine clinic areas. A typical day could include performing physical examinations, heartworm and FIV/FeLV tests, preparing vaccines, restraint and administering heartworm prevention, flea prevention and deworming, receiving intake appointments and educating the public in a manner that is conducive to accomplishing the organization’s goals through professional and respectful conversations with patrons. Good client and peer communication skills, ability to work within a team to accomplish daily tasks and punctuality are a must. Veterinary technology degree or experience preferred.
