Lola

On December 21, 2010 "Tina", a Rottweiler/German Shepard mix, was dropped off at the Humane Society of Indianapolis. She only weighed 5.25 pounds at 8 weeks and was very dehydrated. With your care she grew quickly, and was ready for adoption! On January 17, 2011 she and another puppy were adopted together, only to have both returned 12 days later.

During this time of "Tina's" coming and going, our family had been back and fourth to the Humane Society many times. We had a 15 year old Golden Retriever at home that was not doing well. I saw "Tina" during one of the visits and kept thinking of her, only to find her gone on our next trip. A few weeks passed before we returned, this time to find "Tina" back at the shelter. We knew right then, with her big beautiful eyes looking up at us, she was going home today!

We started our journey of "new puppy in the house" on February 5, 2011. Tina was now Lola! This proved to be much harder then we imagined, as we lost our Golden Retriever, Logan, 10 days after Lola's arrival. Lola was playful, sick, smart, a resource guarder, so cute, sick again, hard to potty train, a chewer, and loved the snow! We all worked very hard with Lola, trying crate training, bringing her to obedience classes, the dog park, Petco, you name it. Today Lola is a healthy, happy, loving part of our family. She has napped on every piece of furniture in our house, loves the cat, loves every dog she has ever met and at 72 pounds, cannot sit on your lap enough!

For Lola's sake, make sure you are ready for all that comes with adopting a new puppy, don't do it on a whim, do it forever. Lola was a project, but you really can't imagine what an amazing dog she is today!
