Foster Feature: Pippa + Stanley

My heart is broken. My heart is full. Just over 7 weeks ago we welcomed a foster pup into home, and just under one week ago he made his transition to his forever home. I miss him every day. I grew up with dogs, but my husband has never had a pet. As an adult...

Foster Feature: Riley

By Riley Thompson In mid-March I decided that it was officially time for me to begin fostering animals through IndyHumane. Once I told my family and friends that I was planning on fostering the expected questions followed: How are you going to give them back? How much do you have to pay to take care...

signature events

IndyHumane hosts or helps with dozens of events every year, and each one is special to us. A couple times a year, though, we pull out all the stops to put the fun in fundraiser and throw a big party for the animals.

IndyHumane’s biggest fundraising event is a doggone day of fun at Victory Field in support of homeless pets.

Ales for Adoptable Tails is an annual fundraiser hosted by our young professionals’ affinity group, the Indy PAAW Coalition. Join more than 350 pets and their people, and a dozen brewers and distillers, for food, beer, and dogs at historic Indianapolis City Market.

Young Professionals
The Indy PAAW Coalition

Indianapolis Professionals Advocating for Animal Welfare Coalition – or IPAAW for short – is IndyHumane’s young professional’s affinity group. Since forming in 2013, IPAAW has helped shape and promote IndyHumane’s events, provided critical feedback for services and programs, and raised more than $30,000 for homeless pets in Central Indiana.

The Coalition’s strategic goals are…

  • Introduce young professionals to IndyHumane’s mission and programs, to
  • Inspire action and generosity among colleagues, and
  • Provide an opportunity for up-and-coming professionals to network with a shared passion for making Indianapolis an even more humane city

The group and most of its events are open to all ages, but experiences are tailored to friends of IndyHumane ages 21-40.

Membership Info
IPAAW is membership driven, and membership begins at $10/month or $120/year. Ready to set up your membership? Click here!

Pet Awareness Wagon (PAW)

Let us bring our pets to you! IndyHumane’s Pet Awareness Wagon (The PAW) is a fully contained, climate-controlled snuggle shuttle with everything you need for an event, fundraiser, or even a little cuddle time for you and your coworkers/friends.

It’s easy to request a visit from The PAW:

  • Chat with our PAW Coordinator who will make sure the event is a good fit and share tips and ideas to make your visit enjoyable for everyone!
  • Once the event is confirmed, tell everyone we’re stopping by! Make flyers or posters, and be sure to post on social media to promote our visit!

About The IndyHumane Pet Awareness Wagon
The IndyHumane Pet Awareness Wagon (The PAW) is a fully-contained, mobile unit designed to bring pets to neighborhoods and facilitate convenient opportunities to interact with the animals of IndyHumane.

The 26-foot kennel on wheels is outfitted with all the amenities needed to facilitate a safe and cozy environment for our animals.

The unit is an incredible opportunity for IndyHumane to increase community engagement.

Since launching in May 2016, the PAW has made hundred ofappearances at businesses, community groups, and private gatherings across Central Indiana.

The PAW is made possible by the Efroymson Family Fund, a CICF Affiliate.

Special thanks to Magnum Mobile Specialty Vehicles for building our mobile awareness unit, and to our dear friends at Matchbook Creative for designing the exterior graphics.
