Don’t Miss Mutt Strut – IndyHumane’s Annual Fundraiser is One Month Away

IndyHumane’s annual ‘doggone day of fun’ is one of Indiana’s largest pet walks and the nonprofit’s largest event of the year. Humans and their furry friends are invited to join the fun and help Indy’s animals in need. Registration is now open for the 18th annual family- and pet-friendly fundraising event at Victory Field on Saturday, October 23. Thousands of people and their dogs (and some cats) participate in the annual family friendly event, enjoying a fun day outdoors with or without their furry friends all while supporting IndyHumane.

Registration and vendor booths open at 8:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies, including a parade of adoptable dogs, awards for top fundraisers, and the Mari Hulman George Volunteer Service Award, begins at 9:45 a.m. Participants can stretch their legs with a 1.2 mile walk outside the stadium, around the White River and downtown area following opening ceremonies, at approximately around 10:30 a.m.

Individuals who register for Mutt Strut are asked to raise funds for pets in need across central Indiana. The individual who raises the most funds will be named ‘Top Dog’ and their four-legged friend will be featured in next year’s promotion materials. Those who register soon will receive a commemorative t-shirt featuring our 2021 ‘Top Dog’ Sonny. During the event, there will be food trucks, retail vendors, live entertainment sponsored by GEICO Philanthropic Foundation & Rock Garage, face painting, a VIP area for top fundraisers, stilt walkers, caricature artists, pet costume contests, and more! Don’t miss this unique and fun opportunity to explore historic Victory Field with or without a pet.

“We are really looking forward to returning to an in-person event this year,” said IndyHumane CEO David Horth. “Mutt Strut is not only our largest annual fundraiser which allows us to save thousands of pets in central Indiana, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the pet-loving community of Indianapolis.” More information about the event and register can be found at indymuttstrut.org.

Mutt Strut is IndyHumane’s largest fundraiser and helps the organization take in animals, provide medical care, and find cats and dogs their forever home. Participants are encouraged to raise $100 to help IndyHumane serve approximately 15,000 animals annually, from adoption services to low-cost vaccinations to life-saving surgeries. It is the only shelter in the state with a fully staffed medical team and surgery suite, allowing the nonprofit organization to care for animals that come to the shelter, as well as animals that need help from other shelters and rescue groups.
