On Sunday, March 15, IndyHumane will host our annual “baby shower” benefiting our Foster Care Program. The family-friendly event will spotlight foster opportunities and encourage Hoosiers to help during the busiest seasons for young animals in need. The open-house style event will feature a variety of activities for children and adults, including face painting, games, a coloring station, silent auction, stuffed animal “adoptions” and a chance to name a puppy or kitten. Attendees can also learn about IndyHumane’s foster program, chat with current foster families, and how to become a foster parent. Tours of the IndyHumane Foster Care Center and Kitten Nursery will be provided, and patrons will have the opportunity to snuggle kittens and puppies currently in foster homes.
“Every spring we have an increased need for foster families, as we see a huge spike in the number of kittens being brought to the shelter during this time,” said Jessica Kanalos, Foster Care Manager and event organizer. “Puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable, so it’s crucial to quickly get these babies into foster homes and keep them out of the shelter. This ‘shower’ event aims to bring awareness to the importance of IndyHumane’s foster care program and help Hoosiers learn how rewarding it can be to serve as a foster family.”
IndyHumane asks attendees to bring a donation of animal supplies to support the care of the baby animals currently in the foster care program. A full list of items needed can be found here. Those who
bring a donation will be entered into a raffle. For those looking to adopt a pet, the shelter will be open, and attendees will be able to interact with the pets currently available for adoption.
The event will take place Sunday, March 15, from 1-4 p.m. in the Albert G. & Sara I. Reuben Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic at the main IndyHumane campus located at 7929 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.
