Piper

On May 17, just two days after a good friend of mine passed away at the age of 27, I was perusing the website (as I had been for the past month), and saw the blue eyes of an eight week old brown retriever/lab mix. I smiled at my boyfriend and told him I had found our puppy.

We brought Piper, formally known as "Nutmeg," home the next day. Working from home has made it easy to spend time getting to know her. I have loved every minute I've spent with her since seeing her picture online. She has helped me mourn my friend with snuggles and kisses, and she keeps me smiling with her antics. 

People are surprised when I tell them that Piper came from the Humane Society. I believe she has swayed a few people from the traditional pet store/breeder route of getting a dog.

Piper is a beautiful and brilliant puppy. I am so grateful to all involved in the first two months of her life. My boyfriend and I could not be more in love with her, and are delighted to be her humans for life.
