August 29, 2012 | Happy Tails

We adopted Cheyenne, a beautiful retriever/shepherd mix, and couldn’t be happier! While she still has some puppy tendencies at just a year old, she really has been remarkably well behaved – no housetraining issues, no chewing on things (other than toys of course!), and she’s been very nice to her two new beagle sisters. Apparently your work with her on food guarding issues was a success, because we have no problem approaching her while eating and even picking up her bowl. She has quickly adapted to our routine and schedule, and we are completely in love with her big, sweet, goofy personality!

We would love to take advantage of some of your obedience classes to work with her on walking on a leash. She does fairly well most of the time but occasionally decides that she’d rather play tug-of-war with the leash than walk! But she is a very smart girl, and I have no doubt that with time and patience she’ll get the hang of it.

Thanks for all you do for all the animals in your care.  Cheyenne is our second adoption from HSI, and she and our beagle, Winnie, bring so much joy to our lives. They both needed a little extra care (well, a LOT in Winnie’s case) before they were ready for adoption, but let me assure you it was well worth the effort!
