Special Bourbon Auction to Benefit Homeless Pets

January 26th, 2017

This week, IndyHumane will begin an auction for a rare and very special bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon. The whiskey is one of just 200 bottles, called the O.F.C. Vintages, provided to nonprofits nationwide to raise funds for worthy causes.

IndyHumane will launch the auction Friday, January 27, at noon local time. The auction, found online at indyhumane.org/auction, will run through 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 8 – just in time to be delivered for Valentine’s Day.

“This bottle of bourbon is something truly unique,” said Jeremy VanAndel, Chief Development Officer at IndyHumane. “And a special way to support our programs and services. There will be only one winning bid, but it’s going to benefit hundreds of pets in need.”

The whiskey was distilled in 1980, and it has been mellowing in a charred oak barrel almost ever since. The bottle itself is made from hand-cut crystal, and rests safely inside a custom oak display case.

“Each vintage has a story to tell indeed,” said Kris Comstock from Buffalo Trace Distillery in a statement from the distillery. “To offer this first release to charitable organizations for their fundraising efforts makes this even more rewarding. We expect bottles to raise upwards of $10,000 each for worthy causes.”

Interested bidders can learn more at indyhumane.org/auction, or by contacting whiskeyauction@indyhumane.org. IndyHumane is not accepting direct sale offers or broker inquiries.

August 17th, 2017

The Humane Society of Indianapolis (IndyHumane) will participate in the Clear the Shelters pet adoption event this Saturday. IndyHumane will waive adoption fees on Saturday, August 19, as part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative that seeks to find new homes for homeless pets. Normal adoption procedures will apply, and information about the adoption process can be found at indyhumane.org.

“We’re looking forward to participating in this year’s Clear the Shelters initiative, and we think it’s a unique way to work together and find great homes for the many homeless animals in Central Indiana,” Steven Stolen, Chief Executive Officer at IndyHumane, says. “We’re thankful for the opportunity to participate in this national effort, and we hope it inspires our local community to take action and open their homes to animals in need.”
