Mutt Strut 2017 Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

April 29th, 2017

The Humane Society of Indianapolis (IndyHumane) regrets to announce the cancellation of Mutt Strut 2017 due to inclement weather. The safety of our event participants (people and animals alike) is our primary concern. After monitoring the weather today and consulting with local authorities, both IndyHumane and Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials have determined weather conditions are unsafe for participants.

There is no “rain date” for Mutt Strut, and the event cannot be rescheduled. However, we can assure you that your support of the event does not go unnoticed and it is still vitally important. Regardless of the weather, Mutt Strut provides key support of our mission at the Humane Society of Indianapolis. Every dollar we raise through Mutt Strut goes directly to the animals at IndyHumane. Thank you for helping us find them homes, and helping us provide important services to Indy’s dogs and cats. To show your support of IndyHumane and the homeless pets we care for, you can still make a contribution to Mutt Strut by clicking here.

We have already started planning Mutt Strut 2018, and interested patrons can follow our social media pages and website for updates. Thank you for your support.

IndyHumane Participating in Clear the Shelters on Saturday, August 19

August 17th, 2017

The Humane Society of Indianapolis (IndyHumane) will participate in the Clear the Shelters pet adoption event this Saturday. IndyHumane will waive adoption fees on Saturday, August 19, as part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative that seeks to find new homes for homeless pets. Normal adoption procedures will apply, and information about the adoption process can be found at

“We’re looking forward to participating in this year’s Clear the Shelters initiative, and we think it’s a unique way to work together and find great homes for the many homeless animals in Central Indiana,” Steven Stolen, Chief Executive Officer at IndyHumane, says. “We’re thankful for the opportunity to participate in this national effort, and we hope it inspires our local community to take action and open their homes to animals in need.”
