Volunteers are very important people at the Humane Society of Indianapolis. As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our programs. You can volunteer in several ways:

Volunteer in the Shelter

The Humane Society of Indianapolis maintains an active volunteer program, and it is an integral part of our daily operations. Our devoted team of 120-plus volunteers spend thousands of hours every year helping to care for the animals. Click here for more information.

If you are needing to Job Shadow for school credit, please contact 872-5650 x136.

Foster Parents

We need foster families! Our foster families care for animals that aren't ready for adoption. Most foster placements are two to six weeks, and are for nursing mothers and their litters, young kittens, puppies, injured pets or animals needing socialization or time away from the shelter. Click here for more information.

Youth Volunteers: Paws and Claws Club

The Paws & Claws Club is designed to allow young teenagers to volunteer their time and love to the many homeless animals at the Humane Society of Indianapolis. Click here for more information.

Volunteer For Animals

There are a number of ways you can assist the animals and staff at the Humane Society thadon't involve working at the shelter or with animals. Click here for more information.
