Group Volunteering

We would like to thank you for your interest in volunteering your time and love to the animals here at IndyHumane. Volunteers are very important people at IndyHumane. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the assistance of caring, animal-loving individuals and groups in all of our programs.

Group Volunteering Opportunities

Groups of volunteers assist with various tasks at the shelter. Activities include kennel cleaning, facilities upkeep, laundry and dishes, dog walking, spending time with cats, and assistance with special projects/tasks.

While we want group members to have fun while volunteering, the primary reason for accepting volunteers is because we need help with our everyday tasks. Every group member should be willing to assist with any task asked of them. Each group member should be able to follow direction very well and be comfortable with all animals in our shelter. Group members who are unable or unwilling to clean or have a fear of dogs and/or cats should not participate in this group activity.

Program Requirements

  • Each group member must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Groups that include minors (16-17 year old students) must have one responsible adult who is at least 21 years of age per four students.
  • Groups must have no less than 4 members and no more than 12 members total.
