Tufty the Cat: Entropion Eye Surgery

Posted 3:15 pm, Thu. 9/17/2009

Carol G. donated a medical sponsorship so Tufty could have entropion eye surgery. This is a painful condition where the animal’s eyelashes poke down into the animal’s eye, and it can eventually cause corneal ulcers. The surgery will permanently repair the flaw and help save Tufty’s vision. On behalf of Tufty the cat, thank you for your kindness, Carol!

UPDATE from Tufty’s adopters:
My husband and I adopted Tufty (he was renamed Prince). I am a new HSI foster parent and went to the orientation, where Tufty and other cats waited for a place on the adoption floor. He had just recovered from his eye surgery. He found a place in my lap and spent the entire orientation snuggling up under my chin… in fact, I’m quite sure I missed some of what Laura, the foster care coordinator, said! LOL! I read all the paperwork though!

For Tufty, a.k.a. Prince, purring isn’t enough; he gets so happy he “yelps” intermittently. I took him home initially as a foster kitty that day. He spent the weekend in the “kitty suite” getting to know our resident pets (2 dogs, 1 cat) under the door and getting lots of playtime from myself, my husband & my daughter. By Sunday, he was able to come out and play with everybody, though he still gets his kitty suite to himself when no one is home to supervise. We adopted Prince to make room for the next actual “foster” kitties or puppies.

I wanted to thank Carol G. personally for helping to fix Tufty’s eye by sponsoring his surgery. We’re not in a place financially where we would have been able to do that right now, so without you, we would not be able to have our little Prince. Thank you too, HSI, for all that you do!
