The IndyHumane Animal Welfare Center is located in the Haughville neighborhood, which was identified as one of the areas most in need of animal welfare services. The Center houses the Albert G. and Sara I. Reuben Vaccination Clinic, offering low-cost cat and dog vaccines.
The Animal Welfare Center does not house animals for adoption, accept animals for owner surrender, or take in strays. The center provides pet-care resources and assistance with feral cats, pit bulls, and chained dogs via the efforts of the IndyHumane Outreach/Education Program and our partner groups: Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana, Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO), Indy Pit Crew, and Casa Del Toro. The center is one of the first of its kind in the nation to provide animal welfare partner groups with phone lines, a physical address, and a presence in the city’s target neighborhoods.
The center houses multiple Indianapolis-area animal welfare organizations that are members of the Indianapolis Animal Welfare Alliance, a collaborative and engaged coalition of public and private animal shelters, outreach and rescue groups, and individuals who are dedicated to the welfare of animals in the city of Indianapolis.
Through targeted spay/neuter efforts and educational programs, the Humane Society of Indianapolis is working toward a more humane and safe city for Indianapolis animals.
Currently, the IndyHumane Animal Welfare Center offers low-cost vaccines and will offer affordable spay/neuter services in the summer of 2013.

Casa Del Toro Pit Bull Education & Rescue (CDT)
In addition to rescuing pit bulls in need, CDT provides education and tools to end animal fighting and abuse, oversees the kennel enrichment program at Indianapolis Animal Care and Control, and uses door-to-door outreach to provide resources to the community.
Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO)
FIDO focuses on helping dog owners to improve the quality of life for their outside dogs and to find alternatives (fencing, kennels, and trolley lines) to continuous chaining as a method of dog containment. FIDO also provides assistance with pet food, straw, doghouses and crates for needy families via door-to-door outreach.
Indy Pit Crew (IPC)
Indy Pit Crew has been working tirelessly to raise public awareness about the plight of the Pit Bull. IPC aims to educate and put a stop to the breeding, neglect, and abuse of pit bull mix dogs. In addition
to education, IPC provides spay/neuter assistance, microchipping, and other services to help pet owners take better care of their pets.
Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI)
Founded in 1977, SNSI provides financial assistance for spay/neuter surgeries to families who qualify for their Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). SNSI sponsors several low-cost programs throughout the year at participating clinics across the state.
