Linda Blair Visits IndyHumane this Friday

September 3rd, 2014

Linda Blair, Academy Award nominee and winner of the Golden Globe and People’s Choice Awards for her role in The Exorcist, will visit the Humane Society of Indianapolis on Friday, September 5, 2014. Blair founded the Worldheart Foundation for animal and human welfare, a group of inspired, motivated humanitarians who work tirelessly to fight animal cruelty.

Blair will be visiting IndyHumane for a tour of the facility, and at 1:00 p.m. she will host a question and answer session and will speak on the importance of spay/neuter initiatives. She will also address pit bull advocacy and education. This session at 1:00 p.m. will be open to the public and will take place at our Michigan Road location in the facility’s Canine Training School.

IndyHumane closed Monday in observance of Labor Day

August 29th, 2014

The Humane Society of Indianapolis will be closed to the public on Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day, but staff and volunteers will be reporting to make sure all our animals are well cared for and happy. The adoption lobby, low-cost vaccination clinic at the shelter, and the IndyHumane Animal Welfare Center will all be closed. We will reopen Tuesday, September 2, and we hope to see you then. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

Humane Society of Indianapolis Voted NUVO’s Best of Indy

July 23rd, 2014

Thanks to your support, the Humane Society of Indianapolis has been honored by NUVO as “Best Local Place to Volunteer” and “Best Local Charitable Event” for Mutt Strut! We also received second place in the "Best Dog Park" category. And, we received the honor of third place for "Best Local Pet Supply Store" and "Best Reason to Visit Speedway Beside a Race" for Mutt Strut.

We’d like to offer a BIG thank you for your support, especially to all of you who voted for us in the NUVO Newsweekly Best of Indy 2014 competition! We’re honored to receive recognition for Best Local Place to Volunteer and - for the sixth year in a row - Best Local Charitable Event: Mutt Strut!
