Below is a message from all of the puppies, kittens, dogs and cats of the Humane Society of Indianapolis with items they've requested:

To keep our areas clean, we need:

  • Tall kitchen garbage bags
  • Paper towels
  • Dawn dish soap
  • Pump bottles of hand soap (not bars)

To keep us comfortable, we need:

For our playtime, we need:

  • Kongs (all sizes) - prefer black heavy-duty Kongs
  • Puppy toys (rope toys and squeakers)
  • Pig ear treats
  • Cat toys (cheap economy packs)
  • Rolled Dog Food (Natural Balance brand)
  • Hot dogs
  • Small chewy/soft treats to use for dog training

For our foster care program, we need:

  • Canned kitten food
  • Royal Canin Dry Cat Food "Babycat 34 Formula" specifically
  • New litter boxes and poop scoopers
  • Small bags of clay cat litter (need lots)
  • Small bags of dry, high quality cat and kitten food
  • Puppy and kitten milk replacer

To keep us healthy, we need:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Peroxide
  • Thermometer covers (available at drug stores)
  • Clear plastic gloves (restaurant style - available at Sam’s Club for example)
  • 4" x 4" gauze squares: non-sterile (we use a lot of these)
  • Wood tongue depressors

Items needed for our Animal Welfare Center:

  • Socks (used to keep our patients' feet warm while under anesthetic)
  • Rice (used to make heating pads for animals recovering from surgery)
  • Space heaters
  • Squeeze cheese
  • Rechargeable AA and AAA batteries
  • 5 oz. Dixie Cups

Other items that would be helpful:

  • Cans of soda or pre-packaged treats (for our humans who work tirelessly to care for our animals)
  • Permanent markers (blue and black, fat tip)
  • White copy paper (we need a lot!)

Thank you!!!

Love,
the Animals of the Humane Society of Indianapolis
