Shelter Wish List

Before you make a trip to the store, check our Wish List (at the bottom of this page) for some simple things you can pick up for our animals. Or order conveniently from Amazon.com.

Below is a message from all of the puppies, kittens, dogs and cats of the Humane Society of Indianapolis with items they've requested:

To keep our areas clean, we need:

  • Bleach: Ultra Clorox (not concentrated)
  • Tall kitchen garbage bags
  • Paper towels
  • Lint rollers
  • 409 Disinfectant cleaner
  • Glass cleaner
  • New kitchen brooms
  • Dawn dish soap
  • Soft Scrub household cleaner

To keep us comfortable, we need:

For our playtime, we need:

  • Kongs (all sizes) - prefer black heavy-duty Kongs
  • Cat toys (cheap economy packs)
  • Rolled Dog Food (Natural Balance brand)
  • Squeeze Cheese (spray cheese in a can)
  • Hot dogs
  • Small chewy/soft treats to use for dog training
  • Carpet cat towers and cat condos - all sizes

For our foster care program, we need:

  • Canned kitten food
  • Royal Canin Dry Cat Food "Babycat 34 Formula" specifically
  • New litter boxes and poop scoopers
  • Small bags of clay cat litter (need lots)
  • Small bags of dry, high quality cat and kitten food
  • Puppy and kitten milk replacer
  • Heating pads
  • Puppy pee pads

To keep us healthy, we need:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Thermometer covers (available at drug stores)
  • Clear plastic gloves (restaurant style - available at Sam’s Club for example)
  • 4" x 4" gauze squares: non-sterile (we use a lot of these)
  • Wood tongue depressors
  • Cat nail trimmers

Other items that would be helpful:

  • Cans of soda or pre-packaged treats (for our humans who work tirelessly to care for our animals)
  • Permanent markers (blue and black, fat tip)
  • White copy paper (we need a lot!)
  • Self-laminating sheets (all sizes)
  • AAA Duracell or Energizer (only) batteries (our microchip scanners can only use these brands)
  • Post-it notes (various sizes)
  • Small notepads 
  • Magnetic dry-erase calendar combination board (2 needed for our Animal Welfare Center)
