INDIGO GIRLS CONCERT TO BENEFIT HUMANE SOCIETY OF INDIANAPOLIS PET FOOD BANK
2009-04-21
Fans of rock-music duo Indigo Girls can help hungry people and pets when the musicians come to the Egyptian Room at the Murat in Indianapolis on Friday, April 24. The group has partnered with non-profit Rock for a Remedy, Inc. (RFAR) on their nationwide tour to gather non-perishable food and monetary donations for food banks, including the dog and cat food pantry at the Humane Society of Indianapolis (HSI).
Pet food donated by fans at the concert will help stock the Indy Humane Pet Food Bank, a service offered by HSI free of charge to local families having difficulty providing food for their pets in the event of job loss or other personal difficulties. ?Many people who?ve lost their jobs are struggling to put food on the table for their families and feed their pets at the same time,? says John Aleshire, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Indianapolis. ?The Indigo Girls? concert is a great way for people to enjoy themselves and help others, too.? Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls agrees. ?Donating food is such a simple idea, it almost seems impossible that it would have such a huge impact ? but it does!?
HSI will have donation boxes and representatives at Friday?s show, which starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.indigogirls.com, and more on RFAR is available at www.rockforaremedy.org.
