Below is a message from all of the puppies, kittens, dogs and cats of the Humane Society of Indianapolis with items they've requested:
To keep our areas clean, we need:
- Bleach
- Tall kitchen garbage bags
- Clay cat litter (not scoopable)
- Paper towels
- Stainless-steel chafing pans (to use as litter pans)
To keep us comfortable, we need:
- Blankets and comforters (no holes)
- New carpet squares (remnants cut to 2' x 2')
- Bath towels (no holes)
- Clean cardboard boxes (no bigger than 17" x 11")
- Baby gates
- Cat and dog beds and Cat Towers (click here to donate Kuranda beds and Cat Towers at a substantial discount!)
For our playtime, we need:
- Kongs (all sizes) - prefer black heavy-duty Kongs
- Squeeze Cheese (cheese in a can) - need LOTS!
- Cat nip
- Mulch for the 1.5 miles of wooded trails the doggies can walk on
For our foster care program, we need:
- Dog crates
- Heating pads
- Ziplock baggies (gallon size)
- Clorox disinfecting wipes
- KMR or JustBorn milk replacer
- Clean vegetable trays, for feeding multiple kittens at once
- Gerber baby meats without seasoning (turkey, chicken)
- Playpen, crate, play yard
- Litter boxes
To keep us healthy, we need:
- Hand sanitizer
- Disposable white latex gloves (with or without powder)
- Clear plastic gloves (restaurant style - available at Sam’s Club for example)
- Medical scrub tops and bottoms for staff to wear
- Disposable surgical gowns
- 4" x 4" gauze squares (we use a lot of these)
For our public donation closet (to assist pet owners in need), we need:
- Dry dog food & cat food, opened or unopened
- Leashes
- Collars
- Cat & dog treats
For our Spay/Neuter/Animal Welfare Center:
- Filing cabinets
- New or gently used animal books (about any animals) for children
- $1,000,000 lead gift (gets you naming rights)
Other items that would be helpful:
- Can openers
- Cans of soda or pre-packaged treats (for our humans who work tirelessly to care for our animals)
- Permanent markers (blue and black)
- Dessert-size disposable plates
- Ink pens
- White copy paper (we need a lot!)
- Loose-leaf rings (from office-supply store)
- Self-laminating sheets (all sizes)
- Regular laminating sheets
- AA and AAA batteries
- Toilet paper
