Happy Tail from Ripley + Rey

March 25, 2020 | Happy Tails

We love receiving happy updates from IndyHumane adopters! Whether it’s been a few months or a few years, updates like these are the reason we do what we do every day.

“I wanted to send an email to give you an update on two of your past residents. We adopted Eleanor (renamed Ripley) nearly 7 years ago in February of 2013. In the photo, she is on the left. She was the runt of a litter found behind a garbage bin. On their first birthday, we did a litter birthday party at your facility which was simply adorable- hats and all. She has had a wonderful life with us here and has a keen sense for when humans are ill (she is a great nurse). She loves snuggling and is still holding onto that puppy face of hers. She ended up being half the weight of her litter mates at a whopping 35 pounds.

Pea (renamed Rey) we adopted in September 2019 after she was surrendered to you again after adoption. We adopted her for Ripley (and us) after we lost our old lady Margaret a year ago from cancer. Rey has been such a joy and loves her home, her new sister, and especially us humans. We like to say she is aggressively affectionate. She loves every human and dog she meets with her whole wiggly body. She still has a lot to learn but she is such a blessing.

We have always named our dogs after strong female characters. Ripley is “Ellen Ripley” from the movie Alien. Rey is named after Rey from Star Wars. We lost our darling Margaret last year from cancer and she was named after Margaret Hamilton (the Wicked Witch from Oz).

Our furry family members are just as important as human family members and yet they are the kindest of all. My family appreciates all the work you do to help give animals in our area a chance at safety and joy.

We do and will continue to donate monthly to help support your work.”
