Shelter Tours

Interested in learning more about IndyHumane? Join us for a tour!

*Due to holiday schedules, IndyHumane has hit capacity for tour groups and is no longer accepting tour requests for 2017. Please check back in January!*

During one of our tours, you will have the opportunity to learn about our mission, our history, and the services we have to offer. You will also get the chance to go behind-the-scenes and learn about the investment we make in getting each pet ready for adoption.

Tours are offered by appointment only and may be scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The default times available are 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Tour times fill up quickly, so we recommend submitting your request at least two weeks in advance. Please plan on at least one hour for your visit. If you are interested in a longer or shorter visit, please include that request when you fill out your Tour Request Form.

After you have filled out and submitted the Tour Request Form, each individual participating in the tour will also need to print and sign a Release/Waiver form; this includes both adults and children. All children under the age of 16 will need to have this form signed by a parent/guardian. All adults participating in the tour will also need to read through our Shelter Tour Guidelines before the scheduled visit.

Individuals must be seven years of age or older to participate in a tour. If you have preschool or kindergarten students interested in learning more about IndyHumane, please email with details and your request, and we will do our best to find an alternative that would allow the students to have the best experience possible.

Due to the busy environment of the shelter and limited space in some of the areas we visit during our behind-the-scenes tour, we are only able to accommodate up to 15 individuals per tour. If you have a group size larger than 15 that is interested in visiting, please email with your request and specific details.

Tours are free of charge, but we do appreciate donations, whether monetary or items from our Wish List. For more ideas on raising money to support our animals, you can visit our fundraising page. If you would like to collect items we are currently in need of, please view, download, and share our Wish List.

If you are

  • a group interested in completing a service project to help our adoptable animals,
  • interested in assisting our community outreach team, or
  • have questions that have not been addressed on this page or in our Shelter Tour Guidelines,

please email for additional details.
